"

The inception of our dining chairs DS10 & DS11

"By seamlessly incorporating the functionality of a foldable chair into its design, we elevate it beyond mere utility.

This integration not only conceals the foldable feature but also imparts a unique and natural aesthetic to the interior, harmonising effortlessly with the rest of the dining area."

In the heartbeat of our workshop, the concept of our foldable chair took shape—a harmonious blend of elegance and functionality.

Through meticulous iterations, the chair's silhouette was refined, and the foldable mechanism underwent rigorous testing. Each element, from the seamless forms and choice of materials to the foldable mechanism, tells a story of innovation.

The result? A foldable chair that transcends utility to become a captivating narrative of design and craftsmanship, inviting you to unfold the beauty of each moment. Our foldable chair, DS11, doesn't just stand alone—it pairs effortlessly with our regular dining chair, DS10.

When these chairs share a space, they create a beautiful sight, adding not just functionality but also a smooth visual link that enhances the dining experience, marking the starting point of the DS11 and DS10 design journey.

Contriibuting thru our

sustainability approach

At Davsjö, we believe that one of the best strategies for creating sustainably is crafting objects that last. Combining design, quality materials, and, importantly, material knowledge, we strive to contribute to a lasting impact. Introducing innovation to a well-explored market is both motivating and a challenge we embrace.

Replicating existing products holds no appeal; instead, we aim to create items that bring something new, respecting the resources utilized. Each piece is thoughtfully wrapped in a form expression, making it a noble addition to its environment—meant to be appreciated not just for a lifetime but potentially for lifetimes to come.

Lasting objects through form.

We firmly believe that the synergy of form, construction, and material knowledge can revolutionize consumption habits. Through an exhaustive design process, we aspire to introduce novel elements to well-explored design fields. The challenge of form exploration and creating a distinctive identity for our products is a driving force at Davsjö.

We are convinced that a unique expression in an object's design can be appreciated and cherished for generations. Merging this uniqueness with construction and material awareness ensures the longevity of our products, both aesthetically and durably. We believe this plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable and responsible design.

Lasting objects thru form.

We believe strongly that form and construction, combined with material knowledge, can have a major impact on the way we consume. Thru a thorough design process we strive to add something new to an explored design field. Form exploration and finding an identity in our products that has a clear and unique form expression is a challenge that motivates us at Davsjö. By doing so we a convinced that an objects unique expression can be appreciated and cherished for generations. By combining that with a construction and material awareness enables our products to last for generations, both aesteically and duralbilty wise. And that we believe plays an important role in sustainable and responsible design.

Making the most of every piece.

To enable the quality furniture we endeavour not every piece of the wood is suited for the task. To avoid those, so called, waste pieces to become waste we give them new life by creating useful home objects (e.g. our salad cutlery, DS99). That means almost all material we source is used, reducing the waste to a minimum.

Giving new life to quality waste.

Using natural materials is important too us. As a crucial part of our identity we want to be as smart and efficient as possible the materials we use, and respect the planets recources, and that does not only include the materials we use in our manufacturing.

One example is a collaboration with the leather industry. By creating use for parts of the leather sheets that is considered waste (e.g too small), we are able to save that material and give it a new purpose, such as floor protectors for our furniture. This does not only save a big amount of quality material, but also reduced the use of plastic since floor protectors on today´s market is made of plastics like polyester.

Making the most of every piece.

To ensure the highest quality of our furniture, we carefully select the wood pieces suited for the task. To repurpose what might be considered waste, we give these materials a new life by creating useful home objects, such as our salad cutlery (DS99). This approach ensures that nearly all the sourced material is utilized, minimizing waste in our production process to a minimum.

Giving new life to quality waste.

Using natural materials is important to us. As a crucial part of our identity, we aim to be smart and efficient in utilizing materials while respecting the planet's resources. This commitment extends beyond our manufacturing process.

For instance, in collaboration with the leather industry, we repurpose parts of leather sheets that would otherwise be considered waste (e.g., too small). By transforming these materials into floor protectors for our furniture, we not only save quality material but also contribute to reducing the use of plastics. Unlike many floor protectors on the market made of materials like polyester, ours offers a resource-friendly alternative.
